Now that I’m back down south, it’s great to do musical things I had to miss out on during term-time at university! One such undertaking is performing with Southampton Operatic Society, who will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado in January 2016.
I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been cast as Yum-Yum and am greatly looking forward to performing in the Nuffield Theatre – a venue that used to be the stuff of dreams for me as a child! Rehearsals are going very well and it’s wonderful to perform with such a friendly group.
The cast and chorus are incredibly strong – and for those who have never seen a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Mikado is a great introduction. You might even have already caught a glimpse of the brilliance to come: a delegation from Titipu performed on September 26 at the East Street Arts Festival in Southampton.
Tickets are selling for our five nights and matinee (January 19-23), so make sure you book yours well in advance from the Nuffield Theatre website: http://www.nuffieldtheatre.co.uk/whats-on/the-mikado.
You can follow all the latest news from the Society on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SouthamptonOperaticSociety or their Twitter (@SotonOpera). Be sure to keep an eye out for extra special publicity over the next few weeks!
