The Int’l Gilbert and Sullivan Festival – success all round!

Just like that, the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival is over for another year. 2014 saw the Festival move to its new location of Harrogate in North Yorkshire – and it’s safe to say the move was a fantastic success!

Harrogate as a town was absolutely beautiful – and packed with great places to wine and dine. The venues for performance – including The Royal Hall and Harrogate Theatre – were equally lovely, with acoustics well-managed and very welcoming atmospheres.

This year, I had the honour of winning Best Female Voice as Aline in Peak Opera’s production of The Sorcerer. I also shared the win of Best Duet with my co-star David Anstice-Pim, playing Alexis, and was nominated for Best Female Performer. The production received a stunning critique overall, with a total of 11 nominations – placing us as Second Runners Up in the main Festival competition!

SavoyNet’s production of Thespis also did incredibly well, placing as First Runners Up in the competition and receiving a host of awards, many for individual performances. Nicemis was a great fun role and I was thrilled to have been a part of the show!

Congratulations to all who took part in the Festival; it was an absolute pleasure to work with friends new and old – and to see the fantastic productions on offer. Here’s to next year!
