Rehearsals have been underway since late May for Britten’s Albert Herring with St Andrews Opera – and we are all delighted with how everything’s been going!
We even managed to fit in a publicity day in St Andrews, which saw cast members strolling around town in costume, encouraging the public to attend a taster scene of the opera in the Byre Theatre.
The re-opening of the Byre Theatre alone is incredibly exciting – and it’s great to see that both students and townspeople alike are looking forward to its full operation once more. You can see an article in student newspaper The Saint about the Byre’s reopening and Albert Herring here: http://www.thesaint-online.com/2014/06/byre-theatre-to-reopen-on-sunday-15-june/
Other media coverage of the opera includes a fantastic article in the St Andrews Citizen (last Thursday’s paper) – and a write-up on the Opera Scotland website, which you can see here: http://www.operascotland.org/news/428/Albert+Herring+ready+to+go.
Both cast and crew have found Albert Herring an absolute joy to work on – and we can’t wait to perform for our audiences in the coming weeks!
