The University of St Andrews Gilbert and Sullivan Society had their AGM a couple of weeks ago – and I am delighted to have been appointed Secretary for the next academic year! The new committee is a fantastic mix of old and new members – and I’m really looking forward to working with them all.
In other news, I’m very proud that our Society’s ‘Grand Dinner’ (which I helped to organise last year: https://carolinetaylorsoprano.com/2013/07/13/the-grand-dinner-or-the-statutory-meal-3-may-2013/) is returning a second time – however this year, as part of a global ‘Gilbert and Sullivan Day’!
The dinner will be hosted at the Scores Hotel, St Andrews on Saturday 3rd May and is set to be a brilliant evening, with a guest speaker, entertainment – and the wonderful company of St Andrews’ finest Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts. However, there’s a whole host of other Gilbert and Sullivan activities going on throughout the day, including a promenade performance of The Sorcerer, an address by the Very Rev Dr. Ian Bradley, afternoon tea – and live links with other Gilbert and Sullivan celebrations around the world.
Make sure to contact the Society if you’d like a ticket – their e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org!
