It’s been a couple of years since I last entered, but I’ve decided to perform in the 2014 Southampton Music Festival! This has always been a special event for me and I’m really looking forward to seeing some old friends – and to making new ones.
I’ve entered the following classes, all of which take place during the weekend of 15th and 16th March 2014 at Thornden School, Chandler’s Ford:
– 205, Gilbert and Sullivan
– 209, French song
– 212, Operatic aria
– 213, Oratorio
– 220, Recital
The timetable for the weekend won’t be published until January 2014 – so look out for this. I’ll confirm my repertoire (and my accompanist!) for the event closer to the time.
This will be the first time I’ve entered the Adult Vocal section; I took part in the Junior Vocal section for several years, and received the Doris Heard Senior Cup for English singing and speaking twice. The Festival is a brilliant opportunity to listen to upcoming talent, with a wide range of classes from operatic repertoire through to Barbershop Quartets!
